Lore Literary is the literary publication of The Fabled House. A gathering place for words, ideas, art, and the stories that help us make meaning of our lives.

Lore will bring together poetry, essays, short fiction, reflections, conversations, and other beautiful things worth reading slowly. We’re interested in work that feels deeply human: writing rooted in place and memory, wonder and ordinary life, creativity, belonging, beauty, loss, becoming, and the complicated business of being alive.

At its heart, Lore is an extension of what we believe at The Fabled House: stories matter, words connect us, and there should still be places where we can linger over both.

You’ll be able to read Lore right here on The Fabled House website. And, in time, in print on your own coffee table, nightstand, bathroom catch-all basket, or in the car for that school-pick-up-line wait. Consider us an alternative to scrolling.

Each issue ofLore, in addition to being a visual experience, is also an auditory one: stories, poems, and essays read aloud, from beginning to end. Listen while you drive, make dinner, walk the dog, fold the laundry, sit by the fire, or just close your eyes for a while. Think of it as a literary magazine you don’t always have to hold in your hands.

Each issue will have a home of its own, created to be explored slowly: open a story, discover a poem, meet a writer, press play, wander a little, and come back whenever you like.

Our first issue arrives September 22, 2026, right alongside the autumn equinox.

New issues of Lore will follow the turning of the seasons, arriving quarterly around the equinoxes and solstices.
